A Thanksgiving to remember…

Sorry all, but I just had to share this Thanksgiving dinner story. My ex mother in law wanted to cook the dinner herself. To say that she wasn’t  much of a cook was an understatement.

This is the truth, honest! I know because I watched her! She took the turkey and put it in the pan. She didn’t wash it at all. She opened a bag of stuffing and started to put it inside the turkey. When I asked her, “What about the giblets and neck?” She said that, that was the way she cooked turkey.

I asked her if she needed anything else and she said no. (Luckily then, the turkey innards were not wrapped in plastic since they never left the turkey cavity before, during or after cooking!)

Later, when I showed her where the flour was, she asked me, what flour was used for? I told her, gravy.  She said, Oh, no! We like our gravy “o natural.” With that, she poured the turkey grease into the gravy boat for all to enjoy with the turkey and stuffing.

That is the only Thanksgiving that I ever lost weight!

Now, I must share a poem that a young friend of mine wrote:

Thank God For Dirty Dishes

Thank God for dirty dishes,
They have a tale to tell.
While other folks go hungry,
We’re  eating pretty well.

With home and health and happiness,
We shouldn’t want to fuss,
For this stack of endurance,
is ‘cuz God is very good to us!

Happy thanksgiving!
