So now there is another study about divorce that I find totally unnecessary and a bit nonsensical.
There has been research done on the people who have been awarded The Oscar, in particular the women.
Apparently, the study found that women who have won the Oscar for the best actress, are at a 73% higher risk for divorce than the nominees who don’t win.
Some of the women who prove this point recently are Julia Roberts in 2001, Halle Berry in 2002, Hilary Swank in 2005, Reese Witherspoon in 2006 and Sandra Bullock in 2010.
Back in time, Joan Crawford and Bette Davis fell prey to divorce after winning The Oscar.
In essence the statisticians believe that sudden success is the culprit that plays havoc on a marriage.
Since I suggest that women avoid getting caught up in celebrity divorce, I am only bringing this up because there is a lesson to be learned with this one.
Think about it.
- Just because a woman receives The Oscar, doesn’t mean there is a sudden change in her personality or marriage.
- A woman who wins The Oscar has probably worked long hours, often with travel involved for years prior to receiving the award.
So, the message for all marriages is the same old, same old.
If you want your marriage to last, assuming you married the right person in the first place, you should think about following these eight steps:
1. Show him respect and expect the same.
2. Be honest with him and expect the same.
3. Keep the communication lines open.
4. Put yourself in his shoes to help you understand his issues and expect the same.
5. Put him first in your life and expect the same. (A great marriage is the best gift you can give your kids.)
6. Listen, really listen and expect the same.
7. Have his back and expect the same.
8. Keep the romantic fires burning.
