Are SAHM s lazy and/or wealthy?

Are SAHM s wealthy and or lazy? I heard the questions when I was a young mother and I am hearing them now. I was accused of eating bon-bons all day, while I raised four children alone. When I quit my job to be a SAHM, I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do for my children, my husband and my family.

Back then, many people understood the career choice. SAHM s were more of a common thing then, than an they are now. Maybe because people watched TV shows like, Leave It To Beaver, Hazel and I Love Lucy. SAHM s were common place. While my husband enjoyed the benefits of my being a SAHM, he also enjoyed putting me down as he questioned what I did all day, as he earned the money.

The eating bon-bons  joke was brought up more often than I care to remember. The only time that I remember being appreciated by him, was after he spent an hour or two helping with the children. So ladies, while we are all proud and happy with our career choices of being SAHM s, we need to see the red flags and we must have our antennas up.

None of us should give up our self worth because we want to love and give of ourselves for the benefit of our children and husbands. We must not allow ourselves to be placed in the precarious positions of being destroyed emotionally or financially because we forfeited our needs, for the needs of our children and husbands.
