Fame Can’t Escape Pain

Maria Shriver lives in a different world from the one that most of us occupy but that doesn’t make her immune to the pain of finding out about her husband’s infidelity.

Personally, I can’t imagine how awful it must feel to know that her husband and a woman who worked for her for 20 years had a baby together. Talk about feeling stupid and such a fool to have missed the fact that her husband and this woman had been intimate.

Maria Shriver posted a video on Youtube which gave the message that she was pondering how to handle the kind of transition in her life that she was experiencing. She is quoted as saying that “It’s so stressful not to know what you’re doing next. Every idea you have, you think maybe I shouldn’t do that.”

So her husband at 63 is in the middle of contracts for future movies. Maria at 55, isn’t sure what she’ll do. They were married for 25 years and during those years, she stood by him as he was accused of inappropriate sexual advances toward other women. Now, the finds out about this.

She told the press, “This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal.” I think what hit me the hardest about this was that she used the words “the children.” My read is that she is speaking about her own children but also about the innocent 10 year old child who she probably knows very well.

Even though she is a celebrity and will probably never understand the financial devastation that so many women experience, she certainly understands the pain. She understands the feelings of abandonment and the feelings of betrayal. She understands pain that her children are experiencing. My heart breaks for her.
