Don’t Let Divorce Con$ume Your Mind or Money

Don’t let divorce devour you or your bank account. Only you know how much the stress of divorce is hurting you. You know only too well the questions that fill your mind.

Every day and every night you wonder

  • How am I going to survive?
  • What do I need to do?
  • Who can help me?
  • Why am I so afraid?
  • Why can’t I sleep?
  • Can I trust my lawyer?

The problem is that you don’t have the answers. How can you understand what is happening when you didn’t even know that this might happen? How can you have answers when you are so overwrought and stressed? Please do yourself a favor. Be patient with yourself and be kind to yourself. Once you understand that you are grieving over the end of your marriage, you can begin to heal.

The problem is that healing is one thing but dealing is quite another.

Divorce and financial devastation should not be one and the same for women. The scary part is that in more cases than not, they are the same.  Look at the statistics when it comes to the winners after divorce.  They prove that women, especially stay at home moms are the hardest hit. How can it be that women who pick the most honorable profession as their career can be the biggest losers when divorce happens? It isn’t fair and it isn’t right but it is a fact.

Is there a way to change the typical consequences of divorce for women and in particular stay at home moms? I believe the answer is yes to some degree.

Like with everything, knowledge is power.

Defeating Divorce Disaster

  • Do take control of your attorney and legal fees.
  • Do not assume that you will be treated fairly.
  • Do be stingy with your trust.
  • Do not assume anything.
  • Do keep perspective.
  • Do remain open minded about moving.
  • Don’t be penny wise and pound foolish.
  • Do not waste money during divorce because you will pay later.
  • Do the math.

Demand what you deserve. Do damage control. Do it now!
