A Woman Loses It In Divorce Court

Have you seen this video on Youtube? Now it’s even finding it’s way to written media. I am not privy to any of the facts other than the video. What made an impression on me was how the judge just waved her off without even giving her the courtesy of looking at her. It was as though she just didn’t matter.

Having worked with hundreds of women all over the country, I get what this poor woman must have felt at the time…desperation!  “Please listen to what I’m trying to tell you. I’m losing it…just listen to me. Please listen to me. Can’t you hear what I’m saying?”

Time after time, the spouses with the money to pay the best attorney have the upper hand. They can and do wipe out every semblance of pride and financial security that the other spouse had previously. They begin to panic.  While I don’t agree with this woman’s actions, I do understand the frustration that she must have felt because my clients echo similar feelings constantly.

Divorce court has become an assembly line, not a fair and just system. Because I am passionate about helping women survive the unfair divorce process that more often than not would have destroyed them and devastated their financial futures, I get it. Many women even experience custody nightmares because of the uneven scales of justice in divorce court. Many are losing custody of their children for no apparent reasons.

Add to that the fact that stay at home moms are viewed as lazy parasites that feed off of the husband’s hard work, they get beaten down over and over again. I have found that female judges and attorneys are the most unjust in many cases. Why? In my opinion, it’s because if they have children of their own, they opted to work either because they didn’t want to mother full time or they couldn’t afford to mother full time. In either case, the stay at home mom is inherently seen by them as the mother that she couldn’t be or didn’t want to be. That’s a pretty difficult stereotype for a woman to overcome.

When I saw this picture, it didn’t surprise me that it was a woman sitting on the bench.
