Are You A Weeble?

When times are difficult, I find that there are several things that help a lot.

Many therapists suggest filling your mind with an image of a serene and happy place. I believe that helps when our lives are filled with conflict.

It is a known fact that exercise helps people’s depression because exercising helps to increase the endorphins in our brain. Endorphins are those little “friends” that attach themselves to our nerve receptors and help to reduce pain and depression. If you are down in the dumps, a brisk walk will definitely help your mood improve.

There is one other little “trick” that I find useful and that is imagery that is a bit different from picturing a serene place as mentioned above.

The kind of imagery that I am speaking about is to picture yourself as something else or your actions as something else. Picture something that is stronger or wiser or more confident. Often, if you think of something that is light and maybe a bit funny, you can lighten your mood and improve your successes.

What has become my favorite image when it comes to woman is the “Weeble.”

Weebles are children’s toys that were originated by Hasbro’s Playskool in the 1970’s. They are shaped a bit like an egg and they have a weighted bottom so that they wobble when pushed but they can never fall over. Hasbro came up with the slogan, “Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.”

How better to describe the strength of women? Women prove over and over again that they wobble but don’t fall down.

What do you think? Are you a Weeble?
