Divorce and Money

I receive so many emails from women attempting to find out how they can save money during the divorce process. In this economy and in any economy, money is poured down the drain during the divorce process.

The most expensive part of divorce is usually attorney’s fees. It is clear that most divorces require legal advice and an ultimately, an attorney.

There are many ways that these fees can be lessened if the person going through the divorce does some of the work. If research on things that happened during the marriage is needed, you don’t have to pay an attorney if you are willing to do the research required for your divorce.

If you understand how your attorney’s billable hours are figured, you can save money by eliminating unnecessary calls.

The most important thing to understand is that an inexpensive attorney won’t necessarily save you money and an expensive attorney doesn’t mean that he or she necessarily costs more in the long run. You need to educate yourselves on the facts in order to save money during the divorce process.
