Some one sent me this quote, He who never made a mistake would make an excellent ex-husband. I have no idea who wrote it but I got quite a chuckle out of it! The other things that are giving me chuckles these days are the new trends of women who are buying and flaunting divorce rings for themselves and then they are having divorce parties with all of the bells and whistles of a wedding reception.
Now, I consider myself to be an open minded woman and I am so happy now that I am finished with my divorce and am on the threshold (no pun intended) of a new life, but a divorce ring and a party? I’m not sure of what the rings look like or on what finger they are worn but wouldn’t that be a constant reminder of the divorce and the ex?
Personally, I would rather focus on my present and my future than my failed marriage and the man who contributed to it. Regarding the divorce parties, I guess that it’s OK to celebrate in some instances but does the not bride send invitations and register at stores for gifts? I’m sorry but I think that a bit strange. After all, many of the same people gave the then, happy couple, wedding presents.
This sounds like double dipping to me. If any of you are knowledgeable about either the divorce ring or the divorce parties, please email me at Claudia at divorceforstayathomemoms.com I am so curious about all of this!
