I wrote a post back in 2009 and for some reason, I have received a ton of emails recently regarding that post.
The questions have been along the lines of, “He changed his mind about wanting to get a divorce. Do you think it could be true?”
There are so many things to think about when this happens. I’ll share with you a few of them with you. First of all, don’t assume that he changed his mind just because he said he did.
A supposed change of mind is commonplace for reasons like these:
- He may be trying to convince the kids that he wants to work things out but you are the one won’t take him back. That means that an ultimate divorce would be your fault.
- He may not have prepared himself enough by obtaining sufficient evidence.
- It may be to his advantage to hold off on the actual separation date.
- His girlfriend might have called it quits and you are Plan B until he meets the next one.
- He may need more time to hide assets before he files for divorce.
- He may be using the current economic recession to prove that his assets or business are not of the value that would hurt him in court.
It’s actually possible that he really wants to work things out. Personally, I haven’t seen this happen in more than a handful of cases. Usually marriages are pretty much over when someone hires an attorney and actually files for divorce.
