If You Don’t Take Care of Yourself, Who Will?

You have decided that you want a divorce or your husband has decided. What next? There are quite a few things that you need to consider. The first and most important thing is that if you have not done so before, you need to take care of yourself.

If that means that you need to exercise, then exercise. If it means that you need to get therapy, then get therapy. If it means that you need to take time for yourself, then take the time. There are gyms everywhere or check out some sites like FitRx Brentwood [affiliate] Sports and Fitness to get an idea of what is offered.

I know what you are saying but thankfully, I can’t hear you shouting at me! I understand that you are stressed. I understand that you might not have the money to do these things. I understand that you might not have any extra time. I also understand that you are probably not in the habit of taking care of yourself.

Take my word for it, the divorce process is difficult, painful and stressful. The negativity that comes with the divorce process can eat away at your health. You can and you must take baby steps to take care of yourself.

Have you ever watched a goalie defending a goal? Does the goalie get in front of the goal without any protection? Of course not! That would be crazy! The goalie would get hurt if he or she didn’t have protective gear. The same holds true with you.

A few simple steps that can help the strain of divorce

  • Go to bed 15 minutes earlier.
  • Spend 15 minutes doing some kind of exercise. Walking is great if that is possible.
  • Take a bath or read a book or magazine for 15 minutes.
  • Avoid eating food with empty calories.

These  actions only require a total of 45 minutes per day. You need to make a concerted effort to take care of yourself. Even if you you can only do little things to improve your health, please try. You won’t be sorry!
