NEVER SAY, “NEVER!”

I wish that, when each bride plans her wedding, she would listen to the special someone who just might say something like, You love him and he loves you. Hopefully you will live long and happy lives as a couple but even though you think your marriage will be a and they lived happily ever after story, it might not be so.

The special person, who said words like that to me, was my mother. As we talked and planned, I shared my thoughts about my fiancee. I remember saying that, NOTHING can change the love that we share.  We will NEVER get divorced. My mother answered by saying, Never say never, Claudia.I didn’t listen and I did nothing to protect myself because I was so sure and we were so in love. Ours was a marriage that would last forever and ever.

As most of you know, I love country music. Once again, I heard lyrics that ring so true. Joe Nichols sings, The Impossible. The words are different but the message is exactly the same as the one my mother tried to reveal to me, prior to my getting married.

Unsinkable ships, sink

Unbreakable walls, break

Sometimes the things you think would NEVER happen

Happen just like that

Unbendable steel, bends

If the fury of the wind is unstoppable

I’ve learned to never underestimate

The impossible.
