The Seven Year Itch was a comedy made in 1955 about a man whose family went away for the summer. While they were away, he was tempted to have an affair with a beautiful neighbor who was played by Marilyn Monroe.
Since then, the term “seven year itch” has become a term that is used to describe people who are in the seventh year of their marriage. The theory is that after seven years, people tend to re-evaluate their marriages.
With the current statistics, the seven year itch is more like a six month to four year itch.
