I want to share with you a lesson that I learned a while ago and thankfully it was just in time to make a difference in my life.
Hopefully it will come in time to make a difference for you too.
If you want to understand and benefit from any process, any relationship or any association, it helps to walk in the other person’s shoes and understand the responsibility and duty they have to you.
Think about it this way. How did you gain the trust from people in your life who have faith in you? Use examples such as your children and your friends.
Why do they trust you?
What did you do to earn their trust?
Is it because:
You are honest with them?
You have their best interests at heart?
You respect who they are as people?
They can count on you?
You do not let them down?
You are not judgmental?
You always have their backs?
So, use the answers to the questions above to come to an understanding that the people you deal with should be held accountable in the same way that you are held accountable. Why should you deserve anything less?
If anyone you come in contact with acts in ways that indicate that they answer no to any of the above questions, react! You need to detach yourself from them. A red flag should go up with each no answer. This pertains to new friends, new business associates, attorneys and therapists.
Red flags tell you that something isn’t right. Think about it. Why should you expect less than you give?
