Princes are just people who happened to be born of royalty. When princes don’t keep their vows, the result is the same as for non royals – divorce.
I have always had a special feeling for Prince William because his mother and I were expecting our first born sons at the same time. Prince William was born in June of 1982 and my first son in July of 1982.
At the time that our first born sons came into the world, I believed that we were both living fairy tale lives. Well maybe hers was on a grander scale than mine! 😉
I believed that both of our marriages would end happily ever after. Not so for Diana and not so for me. I remember when I heard about her divorce, I was heartbroken. Her fairy tale marriage ended in 1996 and mine ended about ten years later.
Anticipating the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011, I have one wish for them.
My wish and prayer for Prince William and Kate Middleton is that they will have what it takes to honor their vows for the rest of their lives.
They are such special people and they certainly have a great start.
On their wedding day will be heard
God of all grace,
friend and companion,
look in favor on William and Catherine
and all who are made one in marriage.
In your love deepen their love
and strengthen their wills to keep the promises they will make,
that they may continue
in life-long faithfulness to each other;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
