Divorce: Gaps in Your Resume

So many of you are trying to enter the job market now because you are facing divorce or you are trying to obtain employment after divorce. I have some good news for you. Believe it or not, our downed economy might be your saving grace!

Really, it’s true. The reason that I am saying this is because finally, gaps in resumes are not as important as they used to be. The fact that the economy has placed other job seekers in a position that is similar to that of stay at home moms, count your blessings.

Employers get the fact that there are good reasons as to why quality workers have gaps in their resumes. So…take that gift and make the most of it.

When you prepare your resume, don’t point to the gap. Instead, place the accomplishments that occurred when you weren’t employed in the summery section. Let the person who is reading your resume see what you have to offer and focus on why you are entering the job market and how you have remained current in your field.
