You are going through a rough time right now and you are so vulnerable. You would not be on this site if that were not the case. You are thinking about the good times with your soon to be ex-husband. You are remembering how he used to be.
You want to feel less lonely and less afraid so you decide to go on a dating site. After all, what could be the harm? There can be a lot of harm you if you are not careful.
There are a lot of scammers and predators who are looking for women just like you.
Tips to remember on dating sites
- Don’t fall for “pet names” that you are called. Think about it. How can someone call you an endearing name after two emails? I mean really?
- Don’t give out your personal email, phone number or address. (Even if he says he wants to send you a gift and especially if he says he wants to send a gift.)
- Watch for incorrect grammar. An example might be, “Please giving me your address.” (Many of these scammers are not in the United States and they make many mistakes.
- NEVER give money to anyone for any reason.
- Watch out for someone who is supposedly out of the US on business.
- Whatever sites you are using, if your gut says something is up, something is up. Hit the button that reports that person and block him from trying to get in touch with you.
Please remember that you won’t be alone forever. The last thing you want to do is jump from the frying pan into the fire.
